Babies
2023 - present
The only two times that I have ever imagined having children have been in the odd afterglow of sex with my wife, and when I was raped by a man. “Babies” began as a project around those two babies who never existed. It is around the ongoing conversation around children, fantasies, fears, and the mourning of something I never had and don’t want.
Like any conversation around kids, or any conglomerate of feelings in any given week, Babies exists in a number of different forms, with a number of different feelings—some are installations of only a few pictures. Others are massive amounts of photographs.
Each includes a mix of imagery—pictures I’ve taken, real and fantastic and restaged and screenshot. It is a conflicted, mixed and messy project.
